One of the reasons for Ross' long-running success is our ability to adapt as the fly fishing market continues to evolve. That is why we believe "Evolution" is the perfect name for our latest reel. The Evolution is the best in large arbor technology. It is the perfect reel for 1wt. through 7wt. rods. No detail was overlooked during the two years we devoted to developing what is arguably the finest mid-priced trout reel on the market today.
To guarantee the level of dependability consumers have come to expect from Ross, we modeled the Evolution's drag system after the highly successful Canyon Big Game series. Even though the drag design is probably more than one will need for light tackle pursuits, it is guaranteed to handle any species your rod can match. Because a durable drag system is only one component of a perfect reel, great time was also invested into developing a drag system that is precise and sensitive - capable of protecting the lightest tippets even when battling world-class fish.
The Evolution series was designed to balance with today's modern rods. It is lightweight but built sturdy to ensure a lifetime of flawless performance. The spool has the perfect ratio of width to arbor diameter that provides all the benefits of large arbor technology. While other manufacturers settle for a standard width for their entire series of product we have assigned each of the five sized Evolutions a different width ensuring the best match between diameter and width among the full range of sizes.
